Centomila luci bianche illuminano il grande abete naturale di Natale alto 48 metri, con il quale l’Amministrazione Comunale e l’azienda di alta gioielleria americana simbolicamente trasmettono l’augurio di una festività piena di gioia e speranza.
“La magia di centomila luci ci porta dentro l’atmosfera del Natale”, dichiara Maurizio Cadeo, Assessore all’Arredo, Decoro Urbano e Verde del Comune di Milano. “Anche per il 2010, come ormai da tradizione di alcuni anni, l’albero vuole essere per i milanesi e per i turisti un augurio con un forte contenuto di gioia e di speranza in un futuro che sappia cogliere i veri valori e le aspettative nostre e dei nostri figli. Ma è anche bello pensare ad un sogno che la presenza di Tiffany & Co. ci ricorda: il volto semplice e candido di una giovane Audrey Hepburn che in un film mitico contempla estasiata le vetrine della famosa gioielleria, con i sogni di tutte le ragazze del mondo”.

Verrà restituito alla Comunità Forestale di provenienza e il suo legno pregiato alla fine sarà impiegato come materia prima. Decorato con lampadine a basso consumo energetico nel rispetto della sostenibilità ambientale, è a basso voltaggio per garantire la sicurezza pubblica.
Anche quest’anno il Comune sosterrà la LILT, Lega italiana Contro i Tumori, tramite una raccolta fondi in Piazza Duomo.
