Consorzio Tutela Vini d’Acqui

Mie carissime Zaguline,

My dearest Zaguline,
Since I was a little girl, I used to love going to the country side, I find it just amazing, beautiful in every aspects. I am always charmed by its colours and its panoramas, also by the infinitely gorgeous vineyard that makes the country side even greater.
A few days ago, I was a guest of the Consorzio Tutela Vini d’Acqui and visited some of its most beautiful and well-known vineyards, in search of the perfect wine, the most wonderful and typical aromas of an area that has captured my heart.
The Consorzio Tutela Vini d’Acqui, was founded in 1992 in Acqui Terme, and is responsible for protecting the territory, the producer and ultimately the consumer (just like ourselves), of wines produced in the 26 municipalities between Asti and Alessandria, which deals with care and dedication.
Composed of farms, cooperative wineries and spumanterie houses, in 2004, obtains the prestigious title of UNESCOs Heritage.
It was a great honor for me visiting vineyards of such high prestige, to learn the “tricks” of the trade, which made an Italian consortium one of the best known and globally recognized.
Brachetto d’Acqui is a DOC wine since 1969, its high sugar content and its high aromatic charge, nor does it make it a delicate, soft wine, pleasant to sip with any kind of food, for a sensory experience under all the visa points.
The scent recalls that of the tender roses, the ones that, in my grandmother’s garden, bloomed and colored the whole garden with enthusiasm and joy. Those roses, a hallmark of love, passion, femininity and romance.
Since 1996, Brachetto d’Acqui is a wine with a controlled and guaranteed denomination of origin, a further source of pride for this all-Italian creation and for all the people who, with lots of love and infinite dedication, succeed year after year to make it palatable to all palates in the world.
Moderately alcoholic, sweet, very aromatic, it melts in the mouth in a few seconds and is immediately an adventure, slowly gets rid of all its essences, of all its ingredients, of every particular nuance … The Brachetto D’Acqui is fresh, delicate and soft, fragrant … a 100% Brachetto.
A rose that tickled me as soon as I saw the beautiful bottle that contained a wine of a really bright color, a ruby red that fades slowly in a clear pink, in a delicate rosy, beautiful, feminine. Spring in a bottle … I have to be honest, a color like that immediately gives my mouth water … and tasting it was a truly heavenly moment…!
Over the years, the Brachetto, like any self-respecting tradition, undergoes slight changes, slight variations to surprise the regulars and intrigue new appreciators. Produced as a still wine but also as a sparkling wine, in 2017, the controlled denomination acquired in 1996 with a major addition, which is in a small letter, from DOC, is reconfirmed to DOCG, to underline once again how much value at national and international this wine has acquired over the years.
For me it was really exciting to be able to spend a whole day, discovering such a prestigious territory, getting to know people who dedicate their whole life to creating a product that is and will continue to be a source of pride for at least 26 Italian municipalities.
The dedication, care, love and affection that every man or woman puts in this production is absolutely extraordinary, and to have been able to be part of this great family, even if only for a few hours, to shake hands with the President of the Consorzio Tutela Vini d’Acqui makes me really proud of being Italian, but above all, I am truly happy to have had a unique opportunity that is rare, and to be able to share it with you, my beautiful Zaguline.
