A Reims con VeuveClicquot

Mie carissime Zaguline,

My dear Zaguline,

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Veuve Clicquot for a proposal that I could not refuse.
A three-day trip full of surprises to discover the vineyards of Veuve Clicquot and the Maison, a true hymn to the art that hides behind the creation of each bottle.
After having obviously accepted the invitation with great joy, I received a delicious packaging with a perfectly organized program inside it that allowed me to foretaste with all my enthusiasm the three days that turned out to be truly a dream with open eyes.
The day of departure I was really very excited, in the morning, when I woke up, I looked quickly at the suitcase, before closing it and going out the door of my apartment. After the drive, I took the flight to Paris.
By now I’m a real habitué of the Milan-Paris route and it seemed to last for a moment!
Arrived at the destination, I could hardly contain the enthusiasm and above all the curiosity, at that moment my fixed thought was to find out how it was the first hotel where I would stay … you know how much I can be picky, I love comfort, especially when I travel for work.
The very kind driver, sent by Veuve Clicquot, accompanied me to Reims at Les Crayères Hotel, a beautiful estate in full traditional French style, a classic, elegant, majestic structure with extremely refined decorations.
For a few hours, I relaxed in my room in perfect French style, lying on the big bed wearing one of my beloved bathrobes.
The dinner organized at the restaurant of Les Crayères Hotel in Le Jardin immediately won me over, an elegant menu, meticulous, attentive to details, impeccable service, a truly brilliant cuisine … and sipping the unmistakable Champagne by Veuve Clicquot, I made I think I’m absolutely happy.
A delightful atmosphere, even if luxurious, the huge white villa with blue roofs was the perfect cradle for a dream night. The paintings that remembered nature, fine carpets, large windows made my stay absolutely impeccable.
Every piece of furniture, every chair, every lamp, the upholstery, the bed covers, made me feel like a woman of high French nobility, I felt really pampered …
The following morning I woke up very calmly, I prepared myself after a good breakfast, for a guided tour of the Veuve Clicquot cellars. But first you could not miss a ride in the gardens of Les Crayères Hotel … absolutely unique, amazing architecture that really left me enchanted.
After a lunch at the Brasserie Le Jardin, with a more sober but always excellent menu of the Restaurant Jardin the night before, I was accompanied with a transfer to the private cellars of Veuve Cliquot during the guided tour I learned secrets, anecdotes and stories that made the Maison the colossus that we all know today.
The tasting, conducted by the brilliant oenologist of the House Gaëlle Gossens, was a great help, after a while I realized how much there was in a sip of champagne, how much work and when I invent every bottle is conceived … impressive!
After this unforgettable guided tour with the addition of tasting, I found myself crossing the gates of a second amazing hotel. The Hotel du Marc welcomed me almost as if I were a relative, an elegant, chic, refined place full of charm that stole my heart in a moment.
The Veuve Clicquot dinner was fun, interesting, refreshing … I discovered new things, I chatted with people from everywhere, we exchanged ideas, future projects and even some dreams in the drawer … even if I have to say that after this trip my drawer has a dream less that has been fulfilled by the Maison!
A long day, intense, truly fabulous …!
Overnight at the Hotel du Marc, exemplary, the silence reigned supreme, a peace of mind that I had not really experienced for a long time … the bed comfortable, central to a breathtaking room, apparently classical decoration, very simple but at the same time, extremely fresh and above all very sought after.
The breakfast, which as you know, is very important for me, especially when I stay in the hotel, moments in which I am much more demanding than usual, I was thrilled, the ingredients proposed, the dishes, even the freshly squeezed orange juice it gave me a sense of fullness and serenity.
With Veuve Clicquot these days, which I have just described, have flown. From Milan to Paris, from Paris to Reims, from a villa in the countryside to a mysterious cellar with a thousand secrets, to tastings accompanied by great professionals, then passing by charismatic characters present at cocktails in luxurious hotels.
Walking in the gardens, walking through the vineyards and walking towards my Gate in Charles de Gaulle, I realized how much I like to travel, how much my heart fills with joy to work with refined and elegant Maison.
Let’s raise our glasses to the next trip with Veuve Clicquot! Credits for Translations Nina Cecilia Marti
