Cathay Pacific per un viaggio verso il paradiso

Ormai sapete tutti quanto amo viaggiare e scoprire nuovi posti e nuova persone… Oggi vi parlo finalmente del mio incredibile viaggio a Hong Kong e Malesia (Borneo) con la Cathay Pacific e Dragonair, una delle compagnie più importanti per andare in Cina Continentale. Cathay Pacific Airways è la principale compagnia aerea di Hong Kong; nasce nel 1946 e il suo primo aeromobile è un DC-3 di nome “Betsy”. Con i suoi oltre 180 aeromobili di linea, tra passeggeri e cargo, il gruppo Cathay Pacific ha una delle flotte più giovani e moderne che solcano i cieli. Dall’hub di Hong Kong, aeroporto internazionale tra i più importanti e apprezzati in assoluto, la Compagnia collega oltre 190 delle più belle destinazioni al mondo di cui oltre 90 città dell’area Asia Pacifico e più di 20 località della Cina Continentale. In Italia abbiamo 2 scali per Cathay Pacific, Milano Malpensa e Roma Fiumicino; ci sono poi gli scali negli UK con Londra e Manchester e, da un anno, Cathay è presente anche in Germania a Dusseldorf e Francoforte. Sugli aerei della Cathay Pacific troviamo 4 classi di volo; pensate che per i passeggeri della First Class è stato da poco introdotto il servizio di Limousine…. Cathay Pacific pensa sempre ai suoi passeggeri, li coccola e gli riserva tanti esclusivi servizi. Da non dimenticare quando si parla di Cathay solo le bellissime lounge firmate dallo studio Foster+ Partners che ha anche progettato l’aeroporto di Hong Kong. Per tutti i servizi offerti ai passeggeri e per l’eccellenza della ricerca la Cathay Pacific è stata nominata per la quarta volta “World’s best Airline”, e nessun’altra compagnia ha mai raggiunto tale traguardo… questo vi fa capire tanto! Non potete immaginare quanto siamo stati coccolati all’interno del nostro Boeing 777-300ER – il top di gamma, diviso in 4 classi di volo, la First, la Business, Premium Economy ed Economy -. Ragazzi pensate che per andare a Hong Kong occorrono 12 ore di volo… I sedili sono tutti super comodi e anche nella parte economy hanno una distanza l’uno con l’altro ottimale… Personalmente per un viaggio di tutte queste ore vi assicuro che la Business fa la differenza, ma anche la premium… Uno dei servizi che mi ha colpito davvero è che si può dire al team di volo che ricorre un compleanno o un anniversario, o altra momento importante affinché vi possano preparare una bella sorpresa con tanto di champagne e cioccolatini… che arrivano proprio nel momento che decidete di festeggiare come è giusto che sia. E questo non l’avevo ancora vissuto con nessuna altra compagnia… Con noi c’era una ragazza che faceva il compleanno e il team di Cathay Pacific ha portato calici di champagne e un delizioso vassoio di pasticcini con scritto Happy Birthday… é stato veramente un momento molto piacevole… Potete decidere in tempo utile anche il menù che volete gustare e segnalare se avete particolari esigenze alimentari e/o allergie. Se vi dico che sono attenti a tutto credeteci… anzi diciamo che sono un passo avanti ad altri…
Quindi arrivati all’aeroporto di Hong Kong, scalo obbligato per cambio aereo e dirigersi verso Kota Kinabalu nel Borneo Malese… Per questa tratta abbiamo volato con Dragonair, compagnia aerea che fa parte del gruppo Cathay Pacific, così da poter beneficiare di un’esperienza di viaggio continua e soprattutto di qualità. Finalmente dopo 16 ore di volo arriviamo a Kota Kinabalu… amici ero dall’altra parte del mondo, non credevo ai miei occhi… Tutto mi sembrava così strano, vedere tutti quei palazzi moderni con quelle casette tipiche ma si percepiva comunque il rispetto della natura che i singoli abitanti hanno verso il luogo. Cose da vedere a Kota Kinabalu (tenete presente che è la città più grande oltre a essere la capitale)? Non potete perdere la Moschea Statale del Sabah, la moschea cittadina e il Wetland Centre (che è usato come riserva per uccelli di Kota Kinabalu), i mercatini delle spezie e tante altre cose tipiche del posto (potete trovate tutto lungo la strada che porta al molo). Dopo un bel tragitto in auto arriviamo al porto turistico perché è da qui che si raggiungono le isole più sperdute e selvagge del Borneo… La nostra direzione? Gayana e Bunga Raya, 2 dei resort più belli di questa zona… Qui ci si lascia alle spalle la vita quotidiana, lo stress e la frenesia abbondandosi al più totale relax. Ci imbarchiamo sulla boat dei resort e si parte per Gayana; dopo 10 minuti di mare (e che mare…) si arriva nel primo “paradiso” situato tra una barriera corallina – che fa parte del parco marino di Turku Abdul Rahman – e circondato da foresta tropicale… le foto dicono tutto… Non dimentichiamo che questa struttura è ecosostenibile e attenta all’ambiente in cui è inserita. Qui si trova anche il Merc, Marine Ecology Research Centre, una struttura che si occupa del ripristino della barriera corallina e del ripopolamento delle specie in via di estinzione… Ma la cosa che mi ha lasciato senza parole è che è il primo centro in tutta la Malesia che si occupa della riproduzione delle sette specie di vongole giganti, che ovviamente vivono in queste acque…
Il resort è formato da 52 villette, ognuna delle quali corrisponde a una stanza con dimensioni diverse. Troviamo 4 tipologie che variano dai 140 mq ai 67 mq; sono tutte abbastanza grandi (pensate che un nostro tipico monolocale è di 45mq) e sono adatte alle famiglie, alle coppie… Sono con vista mare e super lussuose! Ognuna dispone di tutti i confort possibili e immaginabili. Troviamo anche una spa dove sono a disposizioni diversi tipi di massaggi (io ne ho provato uno rilassante… non vi dico che goduria … unica cosa se non siete abituati dite e scrivete sul foglio che vi danno “Soft”, fidatevi). E poi troviamo 2 ristoranti, uno con affaccio sulla bellissima piscina e l’altro con affaccio sul mare… E in entrambi si mangia benissimo. La colazione? E’ internazionale.
Si possono praticare tutti gli sport acquatici, come lo snorkeling e la canoa…
Altro bellissimo posto dove siamo andati è il Bungaraya, un paradiso nel paradiso… acqua verde cristallina e foresta tropicale che lo circonda e chilometri di spiaggia bianca … Qui le ville sono totalmente immerse nella foresta, si ci muove con le macchine da golf e il paesaggio è unico e meraviglioso… Il resort dispone di 48 ville e si possono scegliere con piscina o immerse nella foresta… la scelta dipende da voi e da cosa cercate dalla vacanza…
Dispone di 4 ristoranti e si trova anche la pizza! La cantina di vini? Spettacolare con etichette pregiatissime provenienti da tutto il mondo… E anche qui ci si può dedicare agli sport acquatici, al trekking nella giungla dove si trovano anche parchi avventura, allo snorkeling e alle immersioni! Guardando le mie foto potete capire la bellezza di questo posto tra piscine vista mare e ville bellissime di 630 mq su tre piani con cucina, stanza per la babysitter, salone da festa e chi ne ha più ne metta…E la piscina? Dalle mie foto potete vedere la maestosità ma soprattutto l’affaccio e la vista…
Ma il mio viaggio non finisce qui… Ultima tappa Hong Kong! Quante volte ne ho sentito parlare, non sapete quanta curiosità avevo di visitarla. Finalmente anche questo sogno l’ho realizzato… Partendo sempre con Dragonair siamo sbarcati a Hong Kong (ma come ho detto prima da Milano Malpensa vola la Cathay Pacific). Prima di tutto sapete perché si chiama Hong Kong? Significa “porto profumato”. Ero nella città più famosa per il suo preponderante skyline e il profondo porto naturale. Con una superficie di 1.104 kmq e una popolazione di sette milioni di persone, Hong Kong è una delle aree più densamente popolata del mondo. Pensate che le persone vivono in 35 mq e lo standard medio di una famiglia è di 4 persone… La cosa che mi ha colpito è che in tutti questi palazzoni altissimi c’erano stesi in tutti i piani i vestiti… ho chiesto il perché… Ci credereste? In pratica siccome la casa è piccola e non c’è spazio per l’armadio, loro che fanno, stendono i vestiti fuori! Incredibile vero? Hong Kong è una città carissima, una casa in pieno centro può arrivare a 40.000€ al mq, capite cosa vuol dire?!!? Uno dei quartieri più costosi è Repulse Bay con la famosissima spiaggia e dove si trova uno dei grattacieli residenziali più costosi di questo tratto della Cina. Noi siamo andati a vedere un tipico tempio cinese molto colorato e “popolato” con le loro divinità… Dovete sapere che i cinesi sono molto superstiziosi… vi racconto un aneddoto: arriva la macchina Alfaromeo 164 e nessuno si sapeva spiegare il motivo che tutti dicevano “che bella che bella” ma nessuno poi la comprava… perché il 4 per i cinesi vuol dire morte e quindi nessuno la comprava per questo… Allora gli unici ad avere la 169 sono i Cinesi perché il 9 vuol dire fortuna…quindi qui in Cina troviamo 169 ahahah… Ero morta dalle risate quando la guida cinese ci ha raccontato questo fatto! Non dovete stupirvi quindi se nei tempi trovate la statua della salute, dei soldi, della fertilità e della vita (ho attraversato 4 volte il ponte… ogni passaggio sono 3 giorni più di vita..ahahah). Ultima tappa del tour è stata Victoria Peak… Potete guardare dalle foto lo spettacolo che si vede… città incredibile… Se volete andare a fare shopping vi consiglio Lady Market, qui troverete tutto quello che cercate! Provare per credere…
Fatto un bellissimo giro a Hong Kong ci siamo diretti in aeroporto, si torna a casa… Io ci sarei rimasta di più, ma per forze maggiori si deve rientrare. Comunque l’Asia è un posto tutto da scoprire e ci voglio ritornare…
Arrivati in aeroporto ad Hong Kong, finalmente ho potuto “vivere” bene questo enorme spazio… Come ho detto prima la Cathay Pacific è molto attenta alla cura dei propri passeggeri, non solo a bordo, ma anche in aeroporto. Le lounge nei diversi aeroporti sono realizzate e pensate per accogliere e servire gli ospiti di Cathay Pacific con la medesima cura e attenzione che viene offerto in volo. Per rendere vivo il vero spirito di accoglienza di Cathay Pacific, la Compagnia ha deciso di realizzare sei lounge nell’aeroporto di Hong Kong dedicate ai passeggeri di First e Business Class in arrivo e in partenza, oltre che ai soci del programma fedeltà Marco Polo Club dal livello Silver in poi. Per chi arriva è stata progettata The Arrival, per chi è in partenza invece la nuovissima The Bridge e la rinnovata The Wing vanno ad aggiungersi alle eccellenti lounge The Pier e The Cabin. Tutte le lounge hanno avuto riconoscimenti internazionali. Oltre alle cinque esclusive lounge firmate Cathay Pacific Airways, l’aeroporto di Hong Kong ospita G16, la lounge creata originariamente per la Compagnia controllata Dragonair. Situata al settimo piano del Terminal passeggeri, G16 è il luogo dove i passeggeri di First e Business Class e i soci Marco Polo Club in partenza o in arrivo sui tanti collegamenti Dragonair possono rilassarsi prima del nuovo volo. Come potete vedere dalle foto sono accoglienti e si trova di tutto e, soprattutto, si può scegliere anche cosa mangiare tra mille proposte.
E dopo il tour è ora di ripartire… mi aspettava il mio bellissimo Boeing 777-300ER… 12 ore di volo che in un aereo del genere non si sentono, tra mangiare, bere e tantissimi film… Allora ci risentiamo al prossimo viaggio… e chissà dove sarò destinata…

Today I will finally tell you about my incredible trip in Hong Kong and Malesia with Cathay Pacific Dragonair, one of the best airline company for travelling to oriental China. Cathay Pacific Airways is the main airline company of Hong Kong ; it born in 1946 and it’s first airplane is a DC-3 called “Betsy”. It have 180 airplanes and the Cathay Pacific Group has one of the youngest and most modern fleets that ply the skies. From the Hong Kong airport, the Hub one of the most international, important and appreciated airport, the airline company connects more than 190 among which 90 cities in the Pacific Asia and 20 of the continental China. In Italy, we have two airports connected with China by the Cathay Pacific that are Milano Malpensa and Roma Fiumicino, in the Uk there are London and Manchester, and a year now also in Germany we have Dusseldorf and Frankfurt. On the Cathay Pacific we can find 4 flight classes, and for the passengers in first class the company add a limousine service for them, it is known that this company take care of its passengers. But don’t forget the beautiful lunge designed by Foster+Partners who also designed the Hong Kong airport. For all the services offered to its passengers and for its excellent research, the Cathay Pacific won for the fourth time consecutive the “World’s Best Airline”, and for the moment it’s the only one. You could not imagine how we have been pampered in our Boeing 777-300ER- the top of the line separated in four flight classes, the First, Business, Premium Economy and Economy. You know that Hong Kong flight takes 12 hours , but the seats are so much comfortable also in the Economy area. Personally four such a long flight the Business makes the difference, but also the Premium! There is one service which surprised me, if it’s your birthday you can tell to flight team and you’ll receive a wonderful surprise rich of chocolates, fruits and Champagne! I have not yet met a same company ! In our airplane there was a birthday girl and the flight team offered to all of us Champagne and a delicious tray of pastries. It was so enjoyable! You can also decide your Menu and tell them previously if you have intolerance or particular taste. Believe me when I say that the Cathay Pacific are super professional and a step ahead than other companies.
Once we arrived to the Hong Kong airport, we changed the airplane to fly to Kota Kinabalu, in Malaysian Borneo. We flight with Dragonair, an air company of the Cathay Pacific for a continuous travel experience and high quality.
Finally, after 16 hours of flight we landed in Kota Kinabalu.. I was really at the other side of the world, it was unbelievable..
Everything is so strange, seeing all the modern buildings and by side little authentic houses but I can feel the respect that the people have for the nature.
What do you should see in Kota Kinabalu? (capital city and also the biggest city ) The beautiful State Mosque of Sabah, the citizens mosque and the Wetland Centre (used as a birds reserve of Kota Kinabalu), little spice markets and so many typical things (you can find it all in the street along the pier).
After a nice car trip, we take a boat to one of the remotest Borneo islands. What was our destination? Guyana and Bunga Raya, two of the most beautiful area resorts . Once you arrived in the island, we forgot everything about daily life, stress, and frenzy; you were totally relaxed! We arrived at the first “paradise”, Guyana, after 10 minutes boat, is located between the coral reef (which is part of the marine park of Turku Abdul Rahman) and the tropical forest. Don’t forget that is a sustainable structure!
There is also the Merc marine Ecology Reaserach Centre, a structure in charge of the reef restoration and the development of the species in danger. But it’s also the first Malaysian centre dealing with the seven giant species of clams, which obviously live in this ocean area..
The resort have 52 houses, each one has a different sizes. There are four types from 140 mq to 67 mq; all are big (a studio is about 45 mq) suitable for families or couples. They are in front of the see and very luxurious! Each one have every possible comfort! You can also find a Spa and try different massage type (I tried a relaxing massage, that was amazing, but if you’re not accustomed tell them “Soft”).
Finally there are two wonderful restaurants, one in front of the sea and the other in front of the pool. You’ll eat very very well in both. And what about the breakfast? It’s an international breakfast.
You can practice all the aquatic sports like snorkelling and canoe..
Another beautiful paradise is the Bungaraya, surrounded by crystal green water, tropical forest and an infinity white sand beach. The houses are in the stunning forest, and so you need golf cars to move around. The resorts have 48 houses, and you can choose houses with swimming pool or in the forest. It obviously depends in what you are looking for.
It has four restaurants, and there is also the pizza! And what about the wine cellar? There are spectacular and very precious label from all over the world.. And also there you can practice many sports like trekking in the jungle, snorkelling and diving! If you take a look at my photos you can imagine how wonderful the resort it is, from the swimming pool, and the sea, to the 630 mq three floors houses, bedroom for the baby-sitter, a party living room and so more..
And the stateliness of the swimming pool!
But my trip it’s not ended.. The last stop is Hong Kong! I’ve heard so much about this city and I was so enthusiastic and excited to see it! My dream has come true… We flight with Dragonair.
First of all, do you know what Hong Kong means? It means “scented harbour”. I was in the most famous skyline city and for the deep natural harbour. Hong Kong is one of the most populated area of the world, it has a 7 million population and an area of 1.104 kmq. And persons lived in 35 mq and the standard is a family of four people. The thing that shocked me is that everyone hang out the laundry outside on the balcony.. An do you know why? Because there isn’t place inside for a wardrobe!
Hong Kong is a very expensive city, a downtown house can costs 40.000 /mq !!!
One of the most expensive district is Repulse Bay known for its famous beach and the residential skyline. We have visit a coloured Chinese temple rich of their divinities. Chinese people are very superstitious. For example any Chinese bought the Alfaromeo 164, but anyone knows why, finally we discover that 4 means dead for Chinese people, and that’s why they didn’t buy it. But they were crazy about Alfaromeo 169 because 9 means luck!
I was so amused by this story!
In the temple you can find the health statue, money statue, fertility statue, and life statue. ( I have crossed 4 times the bridge because each time means one more day of life). The last stop was Victoria Peak.. Look at the photos! And for some shopping I suggest you Lady Market where you’ll find everything you would.
After an amazing tour in Hong Kong unfortunately we had to come back to our cities. Asia is such an incredible continent, which must be discovered.
Once in the airport I can finally enjoy this enormous area. As I said before, the Cathay Pacific takes care of its passengers in the airplanes and at the airports. All the lounges receive many passengers and give them the same services as in the plane. The lounges are intended to people who fly in First Class or Business Class and also the members of the loyalty program Marco Polo Club from silver level. For the arrival people there is “The Arrival” lounge an for the departure people there are: The Bridge, The Wing in addition to the excellent The Cabin and The Pier. Each lounge have an international recognition.
Hong Kong also conceived a few lounges, like G16, a lounge created primarily for Dragonair company. It’s located at the 7th floor and each First, Business or Marco Polo passengers can have some relax before or after the flight. You have so many excellent services!
We have to left .. my beautiful Boeing 777-300ER was waiting for me.. 12 hours flight increased fast thanks to all the services of my air company (food, drinks, many films).
So we will see for my next trip! Who knows where I will go?
